Types of Welding
There are a number of different methods of welding in existence today. These methods include MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux-Core, Torch, Spot, and Forge, along with a list of 5 more highly specialized methods you can read about by clicking the button below. Each method has specific applications, and there is not typically a one size fits all.
Welding Methods We Use
MIG
Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding, also known as GMAW (Gas Metal Ark Welding), is an arc welding process that uses a continuous solid wire electrode heated and fed into the weld pool from a welding gun. The two base materials are melted together forming a joint. The gun feeds a shielding gas alongside the electrode helping protect the weld pool from airborne contaminants.
TIG
TIG stands for tungsten inert gas and is also known as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW). In TIG welding, a tungsten electrode in a hand-held torch heats the metal being welded and a shielding gas (commonly argon) protects the weld puddle from airborne contaminants. The tungsten is a non-consumable and the filler metal is added via a filler rod in the operator’s other hand. The filler rod is added to the puddle of molten metal as the weld progresses.
Stick
Stick welding, also known as manual arc welding, manual electrode welding, manual metal arc welding, or shielded metal arc welding, (SMAW) is typically one of the first welding process that welders are taught during training. It is reasonably easy to learn, and offers insights into the way that welding systems work, as well as the ratio of metals to electrical voltage. It is typically used for thicker, heavier metals and applications. It uses a shielded filler rod to protect the weld from contaminants, burning up the shielding, and melting the filler rod as it is used.
Cutting Services
We offer a variety of cutting services for all your metal related needs! We are working on acquiring new equipment to expand our abilities as well!
Chop Saw
Describe your service here. What makes it great? Use short catchy text to tell people what you offer, and the benefits they will receive. A great description gets readers in the mood, and makes them more likely to go ahead and book.
Plasma Cutter
A plasma cutter allows neat and accurate cuts on a multitude of sheet mental thicknesses and types, and can even be used on other thinner types of metal. This allows us to create hand cut custom designs and special fitment of sheet metal which is perfect for sheet metal repairs, and artistic designs. Our current plasma cutter can cut through up to 3/8 inch steel, giving us moderate flexibility and cutting abilities.
Coming Soon
We will soon be adding a CNC Plasma cutter as well as a cutting torch, and a band-saw to our available tools. The CNC machine will allow us to make very detailed and artistic designs quickly and accurately. The cutting torch will allow us to cut thicker metal, as well as heat treating metal and brazing capabilities. The bandsaw will also allow us to make quality and accurate cuts on a multitude of projects.
